Despite the Bordeaux classification of 1855, in 1955 Saint-Emilion decided to classify their wines apart. However, unlike the 1855 Bordeaux classification, the Saint-Emilion classification is updated every ten years or so to ensure it remains relevant, and accurate, in showcasing the best that the region has to offer. Chateau La Bonnelle, owned by the Sulzer family, is a domain that is four generations old. Their wines are characterised by their excellent quality. Intense aromas of plum and candied fruit are supported on the palate with hints of liquorice and coffee. Soft and pleasant tannins and well-balanced acids provide a lovely finish. Enjoy with roasts, black truffle laced dishes and fine mature cheeses are also elevated by this outstanding wine.
