Conte Ottavio Piccolomini was born in Florence, the capital of Tuscany in 1599. Largely a military man, he served as Imperial Captain and Commander of the body Guard before later in life being considered to be a cosmopolitan man and a passionate epicure who loved nothing more than to spread the authentic Italian attitude to life wherever he went. If you love Sauvignon Blanc then Vermentino is your friend. Lively aromas of pear, white peach and lime are followed by a dry and slightly oily wine with flavours of grapefruit, citrus and a hint of fresh almond. Enjoy with chicken, fish, fennel-spiced pork sausages and seafood pasta dishes.
