La Venera, meaning to respect or revere, is another wine from Duque De Montbello that we are pleased to showcase. Coming from Yecla in the region of Murcia, eastern Spain, the principle grape is the Monastrell, a small, thick-skinned varietal also known as Mourvedre, that seems to thrive in the arid climate and in the capable hands of a new generation of winemakers. The deep blue coloured grape produces wines that are dark red in colour, with intense flavours of ripe dark fruit. Blended here with Merlot and Syrah, the wine delivers a buoyant nose of baked cherry, black liquorice and roasted coffee supporting the rich dark fruit flavours and a supple finish.
