Sherry is a fortified wine born out of necessity. The War of the Spanish Succession and later Napoleonic Wars prevented the easy exportation of Spanish wine, leaving merchants with wines left for a prolonged period in porous barrels. These wines began to oxidize lightly but once tasted, a new breed of wine was discovered. Our Casco de la Cruz is a sweet dessert style Sherry made from the celebrated Pedro Ximenez grape giving it a distinctive Sherry nose with aromas of chocolate and spice, the palate is defined by toffee and sultanas.
